How do I make a prediction?

Making a prediction in Inkling is quite simple. When you signed up, we gave you a grant of fantasy currency, typically $5,000, but your site administrator may have chosen to give everyone more.

Using that money is how you make a prediction. Basically the more you spend, the stronger you feel about the answer.

1. To get started, click on any question.
2. If there is more than one possible answer, choose the answer you'd like to make a prediction for.
3. You'll be presented with something that looks like the figure above. Click on any of the 6 buttons to make a prediction. The farther away you get from the center, the stronger you feel one way or another.
4. Once you've clicked a button, you'll be told how much money you'll be spending to have an effect on the overall prediction.
5. Enter a reason why you're making the prediction in the direction you are, then click "Submit Prediction." You'll immediately see the overall prediction change based on your input. Of course other people making predictions will change the chances too.

If you think you know what you're doing, you can always use the "advanced" interface. There you have more fine-tuned control over how much money you want to spend to make predictions and see a little more information about how your money is being spent.
